Starlight

December is truly upon us, and with it, a plethora of seasonal stories and music!!

In addition to Magic Garden’s (tried and true) faves such as Frosty the Snowman (with songs performed by Kenny Loggins) and an interactive version of The Snowman, we are introducing books, which Debbie Leopold (former Magic Garden parent and Lincoln Library’s Children’s Librarian), kindly loaned us and which are featured at The Concord Museum’s Family and Literacy Tree Exhibit . As well as the new and wonderful discoveries we have made in Finding Winnie and Strictly no Elephants, we are revisiting classic children’s literature such as Make Way for Ducklings, Last Stop on Market Street and Caps for Sale.  Some of our time indoors, has been well spent on simple art activities related to a selection of the Exhibit’s stories, such as Hoot and Peep and Swatch. It has been thrilling to hear that many of our Families have visited the Museum’s stunning and inspiring annual event.

Twilight

The Twilight children are looking forward to welcoming winter; with an emphasis on light. Our investigation of lights and color continued indoors this month. The children used flashlights to create shadows on the walls and to light up their play areas. They also experimented by using tea lights to illuminate their Magna Tile structures. What fun!

Next, the children will be practicing songs for a January collaborative sing-a-long, with the Lincoln Council on Aging. So exciting!
